The School of Pedagogical Sciences, Kannur University  on  26 June 2015, organized a workshop to orient the  teacher educators to the  Two-Year  BEd  Curriculum for  2015-17   which  will be implemented  from 01  July  2015.

English is offered as  an  Optional Subject  for  the BEd. programme    in  13 institutions affiliated to  Kannur University. Eleven teacher educators  took part in the deliberations during which  the need for a common platform to discuss and share   information  and resources   was  felt  by those present.  Hence through    a common consensus  it was decided to launch  a blog  entitled  FET@KU.  It is hoped that the  Blog would benefit both  teacher educators and the trainees alike.

FET@KU Forum of English Teacher Educators of Kannur University Though Grammar is central to the teaching of languages most educators are not very comfortable with the teaching of Grammar…There are teachers who focus on grammar as a   set of forms and rules. Such teachers   teach grammar by explaining the forms and rules and then drill students on them. There are   also language teachers who assume that students will absorb grammar rules as they hear, read, and use the language in communication activities.   The Communicative Competence model   of teaching Grammar recognizes that overt grammar instruction helps students acquire the language more efficiently, but it incorporates grammar teaching and learning into the larger context of teaching students to use the language.
